Located in the Bowen Basin region of Queensland, Blackwater is a mining town known for its coal industry, rugged outback surroundings, and close-knit community that supports a largely resource-driven economy. The local hospital is a small rural facility with approximately 15–20 beds, providing essential services including emergency care, acute inpatient care, and primary healthcare, with 24/7 coverage for the town and surrounding mining communities.
