Broken Hill is a historic outback city in the New South Wales, known for its mining heritage, striking desert landscapes, and strong arts and cultural scene, including galleries, sculptures, and iconic film locations. Supporting the region, Broken Hill Health Service is a major rural facility with around 100 beds, providing a comprehensive range of services including emergency care, acute inpatient services, maternity, and specialist outreach support, and operates a 24/7 Emergency Department for the city and surrounding remote communities.
